This pottery course offers a comprehensive understanding of the pottery wheel, teaching you about the different types, components, and their effective use. You'll begin with the essential technique of wedging to ensure your clay is free of air bubbles and ready for throwing. Starting with the basics, you'll learn to throw cylinders, which form the foundation for many pottery shapes. As you progress, you'll develop skills to shape and refine mugs and bowls, and discover how to pull and attach handles to enhance their functionality and aesthetic appeal. The course also covers the art of trimming to give your pieces a professional finish, including refining the bottom and creating a foot. Additionally, you'll explore various methods for designing and decorating your pottery, such as carving, adding textures, and applying underglazes. By the end of the course, you'll have a collection of your own handmade pottery and the confidence to continue exploring the world of ceramics.
